Why affordable housing?

The number one cause for homelessness in America is lack of affordable housing.  1 in 87 Americans experiences homelessness each year.  Most who are unable to afford housing are forced to ration other necessities or worse, are victims of eviction and homelessness.

Why artists?

Artists are catalysts for economic and community development, putting their artistic talents to use in support of community residents.  78% of artists have an undergraduate degree and nearly half of those have some type of post-graduate degree.  They are rich in intelligence and human capital, and increase the rate of volunteerism and community activism.

What is “sustainable design”?

Often referred to as “environmental design,” “environmentally conscious design,” “eco-design” and much more- sustainable design refers to the integration of environmental requirements in all stages of the development process.  It is a sophisticaed form of “eco-efficiency,” or rather, doing more with less.

What is “live/work” and “mixed-use” development?

Our developments will provide a range of commercial and residential units (mixed-use space).  Additionally, by creating live-space, work-place units, artists will be provided with the opportunity to use the same space to live and work, which will not only cut the time and cost of commuting but it will cut the cost of additional work-space.

Why Urban Farming?

Urban Farming is just one way to combat hunger and food insecurity in underserved neighborhoods. This method also beautifies vacant and abandoned lots to deter illegal dumping while adding to the esthetics of urban neighborhoods.
